Family standing on mountain in Sedona, Arizona

About your hosts

We're Christie and Seikai, a Japanese/American multicultural family of 3, world travelers and outdoor adventurers. We own and manage Yamagoya Cabin and will be the only ones you'll communicate with during your stay. After living in NYC for over 13 years, we relocated to the Southwest to experience desert living and have easier access to mountains and nature. We've been hosting for a little over a year now, and love welcoming guests into our home and culture. We enjoy exploring the world and being in nature, whether it's hiking mountains or experiencing a new country. We designed the cabin ourselves and hope to create a wonderful experience and memories that we enjoy as travelers. We hope you take a moment to pause and unplug during your stay, and truly appreciate the beauty of nature in the Catskills.

About the cabin

Yamagoya Cabin is an intentionally designed chalet that's inspired by ryokans and minshukus throughout Japan. We've carefully selected trinkets and treasures to fill the space from our visits to small rural villages, and added in our own framed photos from our favorite experiences there. It's filled with much love and many details to delight your stay. Our property is located in Roxbury, NY within the Western Catkills in a private mountain community. We designed the cabin as a cultural immersion experience and wellness/relaxation retreat. Through details like a zen garden under the stairs, a shishi odoshi fountain, and much more, we hope our guests feel like they are taken away to Japan. The cabin is surrounded by 1.5 acres of private forest to take in during your stay. There are also beautiful native plants and wildflowers which come to life during the spring and summer seasons. We encourage you to partake in forest bathing to replenish and refresh during your time here.
